Revealing Dances: Search(Light) at Brooklyn Navy Yard

Curious about how a dance is created? How the details come together? How a choreographer sees a space? How dancers make choices?

Join Kinesis Project dance theatre and choreographer Melissa Riker as they create and make choices; with your input!

12:00pm Doors Open

12:15pm Dancing begins

Hosted by the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Kinesis Project dance theatre is continuing to create their newest work, Search(Light) as a cross-country experience - sharing live performances between dancers in NYC and Seattle, WA.

Join this boundary-breaking dance company as they invite you into the creation process. Be a part of the conversation and see how a dance is made. Be in dialogue with the artists as they are creating and collaborating.

A short, facilitated discussion about creativity will follow the rehearsal.

These rehearsals will culminate in a development performance at the Navy Yard on June 18.

Revealing Dances is a series by Kinesis Project dance theatre, created as a process to invite the audience into a deeper understanding of creative process. The program is co-invented by artists and facilitators, Jeremy Williams and Melissa Riker.

Search(Light) in 2020 and 2021 has been made possible in part through partnerships with Brooklyn Navy Yard and Vashon Center for the Arts, Dance/NYC Covid Relief Grant, Indie Thetare Fund, John C. Robinson, Emily and Tony Seaver, Amerigo Falciani and Melissa Graule, and many generous individuals.
